story

Uvada is produced by Napa Valley’s Nova Wines, which is best known for its Marilyn Merlot and other wines produced under exclusive agreement with the estate of Marilyn Monroe.

With over twenty years of experience in making wines from some of the finest Napa Valley Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards, Uvada Merlot is an expression of personal taste that values Old World elegance and harmony in winemaking over the ponderous, heavy-handed style that has gained so much attention in recent years.

“Uvada is the wine we make for ourselves, our family and friends,” explains Donna Holder of Nova Wines.  “We love Spanish and Italian cuisine, and we love to cook and gather around a table with wines that enhance and not overwhelm the flavors and the dining experience.”

Both the Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon portions of this wine come from single vineyards in the heart of the Oakville district in Napa Valley.  The Merlot portion of the wine (usually about 90 percent) is grown on Andy Beckstoffer’s “Vineyard X,” and the Cabernet Sauvignon comes from the Yount Mill vineyard.

Uvada Merlot is produced in small quantities – only a few hundred cases each year.  It is a truly unique, hand-crafted wine of unparalleled grace and style.
